Post-Licensure Students

WakeMed is privileged to support the professional development of WakeMed employees and students in programs for which we have an Affiliation Agreement. We are currently at clinical capacity, so we are not accepting any post-licensure nursing or EMS students other than employees and clinical nurse specialist students at this time.

It is the responsibility of the post-licensure nursing and EMS student to secure a qualified preceptor.

Onboarding requirements:

  • First, submit the Post-Licensure form to Marilyn Falk, mfalk@wakemed.org
  • Affiliate schools
    • See the information listed under Credentialing
  • Non-affiliate schools
    • Please review the Shadowing and Observership policy on Policy Tech and submit the forms to Marilyn Falk, mfalk@wakemed.org

Annual requirement

  • Confidentiality Agreement
  • HR Acknowledgement Form

Project Completion – All students with projects must review the following policies and submit the Notification of Graduate Nursing Student Capstone Project form as directed.

EPIC Access

  • WakeMed employees are not to use their employee access for anything while doing student work, so a separate network and EPIC account is required. WakeMed EPIC training is required prior to receiving access to our network and EPIC, but will be waived for employees who normally document in Clin Doc, Stork, or ASAP.
  • Students must apply for network and EPIC access, if desired, by entering personal information at https://www.wakemed.org/student-network-access-form The password will be shared in the EPIC Training Directions.
  • After the individual successfully completes EPIC training and completes the Access Request form on the website, network and EPIC access will be processed. Within two weeks, the individual will receive an e-mail from NursingStudentPlacement@wakemed.org with details regarding the user ID and how to log in.

Badge

  • A WakeMed student badge will be provided by Marilyn Falk, mfalk@wakemed.org, and should be worn whenever doing student work at WakeMed Health & Hospitals.
