Credentialing and Orientation

WakeMed is a member of the Consortium for Clinical Education and Practice (CCEP), a collaborative between academic and clinical partners in the Wake Area Health Education Center region. We follow the CCEP recommendations, and as such require that the elements of the Passport are met, consistent with our Affiliation Agreements. The records are kept on file with the school and are periodically audited.

Annually the following must be kept on file with the school for clinical instructors and students:

*Current WakeMed employees may be exempt from some of the Passport requirements because they meet them through their employment. Current WakeMed employees must carry professional liability insurance that covers their school experiences.

Network and EPIC Access for Nursing and Nurse Aide Students:

  • Network and EPIC access will not be granted unless the individual completes EPIC training at WakeMed. Nurse aide employees must attend a student class. RN employees will be evaluated on an individual basis. Nurse Aide II Students must complete in-person EPIC training.
  • Clinical Coordinators: Submit the WakeMed Access Request about a month before the start of the term. Please include all students and faculty who will be at WakeMed in the next two months. The directions are on the second page of the spreadsheet. WakeMed will use it to create and or refresh the network accounts and assign Epic training to those who have not already completed it at WakeMed.
  • WakeMed will grant Epic access within three business days after Epic training is complete.
