WakeMed is home to a Level I Trauma Center, North Carolina’s first 24-hour freestanding children’s emergency department, and special areas for minor emergency care, nonemergent care and trauma services. Specialists stand at the ready to meet the needs of all patients seeking emergency care. WakeMed Emergency & Trauma Care services are available 24 hours a day. The WakeMed Raleigh Campus Emergency Department is one of only six Level I trauma centers in North Carolina and serves as a regional referral center. This is the highest designation an emergency and trauma care program can achieve.

Raleigh Campus Adult Emergency Department is a certified Chest Pain Center and is a Primary Stroke Center.
