Our Imaging Colleagues

Raleigh Radiology LogoRaleigh Radiology is proud to be the exclusive imaging colleague of WakeMed Health & Hospitals, reading thousands of imaging studies each week for patients inside the hospital and through WakeMed’s outpatient imaging sites. Working together, we aim provide the latest technology, convenient access and prompt testing and results for our patients. WakeMed is proud to collaborate with Raleigh Radiology to provide outpatient imaging to patients at the following locations: Clayton, Oberlin and Wake Forest. WakeMed and Raleigh Radiology also partner to bring advanced PET/CT imaging services at the 210 PET Imaging center located in Cary.

Siemens Logo

In September 2020, WakeMed and Siemens Healthineers announced a 10-year collaboration that will allow us to innovate care delivery through robotics, state-of-the-art imaging technology, artificial intelligence, performance improvement initiatives and workforce training. Since announcing this Value Partnership, WakeMed and Siemens have been working to deliver on these goals, driven by the common aim of better serving our community.

An important component of the coordination effort includes considerable equipment updates, which will continue in the coming years. One of the most exciting equipment upgrades is in the Hybrid Operating Room at Raleigh Campus. The space features state-of-the-art ARTIS pheno (a robotic C-Arm) – the first in the state of North Carolina. The advanced medical imaging of the ARTIS pheno brings better capabilities for our providers with faster scan times as well as better outcomes for patients by bringing the highest quality images at the lowest possible doses. This comprehensive equipment roadmap further enhances WakeMed’s existing cardiovascular intervention and imaging programs.

Another exciting addition is the Sola MRI, which is operational at Cary Hospital. The machine offers faster scan times and enhanced imaging quality, and patients will appreciate the larger bore, in-MRI lighting and the MRI room’s welcoming decorative touches. In addition, Cary Hospital, Raleigh Campus and North Hospital have received ACUSON Sequoia ultrasound systems, which have innovative features to improve image quality and reduce variability. The system will help expand precision medicine with high-resolution imaging that adapts to patient’s size and physical characteristics — leading to more accurate scans and more confident diagnoses.

WakeMed also uses the most advanced PET/CT technology available for 210 PET in Cary — the Siemens Healthineers Biograph Vision. Featuring the use of artificial intelligence, the Siemens Healthineers Biograph Vision is the next-generation of PET/CT scanners that uses advanced imaging to detect even the smallest lesions with less exposure to radiation.
