Am I Candidate for Weight Loss (Bariatric) Surgery?

According to the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), surgical weight loss procedures are generally designed to help patients who meet the following criteria:

  • You are more than 55 pounds above ideal body weight
  • You have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 35 or greater (ASMBS BMI calculator)
  • You have a BMI of 35 or more, and your weight is causing negative health effects such as diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure or other health concerns related to obesity.
  • You’ve been unable to achieve a healthy weight for a sustained period of time, even after previous efforts to lose weight.

If you don’t meet these criteria, check out our non-surgical weight loss procedures or medical weight loss options.
