Volunteer Education Program


The Volunteer Education Committee encourages volunteers to improve existing skills and gain new skills to provide excellent service to the patients & families of WakeMed and to our community.

Qualified volunteers will be reimbursed for costs up to $200 per continuing education class or seminar completed.

Volunteer Group of 2022Examples of appropriate classes are

  • Basic Life Support
  • Mental Health
  • First Aid
  • Customer Service
  • Second Language
  • Leadership Development Courses
Requirements and Consideration for Qualifications for Reimbursement for Continuing Education Class:
We have the right to deny any request that does not meet the qualification for reimbursement. 
  • Minimum of twelve continuous months and a minimum of 100 active volunteer service hours.
  • Currently active at WakeMed Raleigh Campus or North Hospital at the time of class completion.
  • Appropriate course provider & content.
  • Requests for reimbursement must be received within ten (10) days of class completion.
  • Participants are required to fill out a short survey on the reimbursement form for their continuing education course or program to aid in committee planning.
