WakeMed Spinal Cord Injury Peer Support Program

Spinal Cord Injury

The Peer Support Program allows patients who have experienced a spinal cord injury to talk with individuals who are similar age, interest and level of injury

How does the program work?

During your hospital stay, WakeMed can match you with a Peer Supporter and can arrange for an informal visit during which the Peer Supporter will talk with you about what they experienced, both during their hospitalization and upon return home, and answer your questions. The goal of the program is to provide you with a resource for information about what to expect from your medical condition and to help prepare you for the future. See your case manager or therapist for details about participating in this program.
