WakeMed Amputee Peer Support Program

The Peer Support Program allows patients who have experienced an amputation to talk with individuals who have had a similar medical experience.

How does the program work?

During your hospital stay, WakeMed can match you with a Peer Supporter and can arrange for an informal visit during which the Peer Supporter will talk with you about what they experienced, both during their hospitalization and upon return home, and answer your questions. The goal of the program is to provide you with a resource for information about what to expect from your medical condition and to help prepare you for the future. See your case manager or therapist for details about participating in this program.
