- "Dr. Wood recently performed surgery on my 19-year-old son, and the results have been fantastic. While I understand that surgery is a surgeon's primary function, I was incredibly impressed by Dr. Wood's approach. He carefully considered my son's age and his status as a college athlete, demonstrating a cautious and thoughtful approach to his care. Dr. Wood explored conservative treatment options before recommending surgery, recognizing the inherent risks involved, even in seemingly minor procedures. I truly appreciated his commitment to minimizing those risks. Thankfully, the initial conservative measures were successful, allowing my son to avoid surgery for a couple of years. However, when surgery became necessary, Dr. Wood's skill and expertise were evident. My son is now feeling amazing! Beyond the surgical outcome, I was extremely impressed by Dr. Wood and his team's exceptional patient care. They were incredibly patient, readily available, and maintained excellent communication throughout my son's treatment. I especially appreciated their collaborative efforts with my son's college athletic trainers to ensure coordinated care between both healthcare teams. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Dr. Wood to anyone seeking an outstanding orthopedic surgeon."
- "Dr. Wood and his entire medical teams were outstanding. I needed 2 separate shoulder surgeries (1 for each shoulder) over a period of 4 months. He and his team were ultra responsive and performed the surgeries very well. I greatly appreciate their dedication and commitment to see that I get well and back to the activities I enjoy. Thanks Dr. Wood and team!!!"
- "Dr. Wood was very professional with me. A recent MRI had confirmed I had medial and lateral meniscus tears in my left knee, but since I was no longer experiencing any pain or inflammation at the time of my visit, he was very upfront with me and could not justify any surgical procedure, at least for now. Very personable and straightforward."
- "New to the area my brother in law recommended Dr. Wood who performed his Rotator Cuff surgery. I have had two previous Rotator Cuff surgeries and Dr. Wood performed the third. I am here to tell you it was by far the greatest experience I've had. My previous surgeon was very experienced but Dr. Wood's surgery had me on a much faster track to recovery. His professionalism and expertise are above reproach. If you are in need of a GREAT Orthopedic surgeon look no further than Dr. Mark Wood."
- "I am a surgeon. Dr. Mark Wood is an excellent physician. He is knowledgeable, experienced, calm/cool in demeanor, and an outstanding surgeon. I have watched him operate in the OR's. I have known him for many years and have referred multiple patients to him (including my wife for her rotator cuff repair). I would trust him with the health of any of my family members."
- "Dr. Wood repaired my daughter’s ACL and Meniscus after a sport related injury. He showed genuine concern and compassion toward her. Such an injury can be very devastating for the parent and athlete alike. Dr. Wood was accessible and was available to answer all of our questions with researched based data and information before and after her surgery. She is beginning to transition back to playing sports and she feels great confidence in her repair-no pain with great movement. We are thankful to God for Dr. Wood."
- "Dr. Wood performed an ACL reconstruction on our 13-year-old daughter, and we feel extremely blessed to have gone through this very scary ordeal with him by our side. Dr. Wood made sure we were educated on all options, medical research/studies, and possible outcomes, so we could make an informed decision. He is incredibly communicative, compassionate and perceptive to the needs of his patients, and their concerned parents. Post-surgery, Dr. Wood remains committed to checking in on her well-being and ensuring her ultimate recovery and safe return to sports. We cannot express the sheer depth of our gratitude to Dr. Wood and the team at Wake Orthopaedics. He is truly the best of the best"
- "I would like to give Dr. Wood some praise. He is a caring and professional person and feel he went out of his way to help our daughter and our family. We could not think any more highly of him and his practice and will be forever grateful. His PT group with Luke Hudson was also excellent. Top quality and Luke has gone out of his way to ensure our daughter's success as well. We could not be happier with the experience, efforts of all involved, and overall results. Stronger than she ever has been and one happy child."
- "I severely damaged my Rotator Cuff requiring 3 separate procedures to correct. As I was 69 at the time of surgery, full restoration was difficult and in doubt. I am pleased to say I have regained full strength and motion. Dr. Wood is not only highly qualified but also personable and communicates conditions and outcomes very well. I highly recommend him and his supporting staff."
- "Dr. Wood did an outstanding job with my daughter for her ACL reconstruction. She is now back to competitive soccer 9 months after surgery. He took the time to explain everything and cited studies to back up his treatment plan. Never had to wait long and everything was set up easily with surgery and post-care. As a physical therapist, I have been very impressed and have already recommended patients of mine."
- "From my first visit until my last follow-up appointment after Rotator Cuff Surgery, Dr. Wood educated me on every step of the process. From diagnosing the tear to treatment options, and follow-through of my surgery, I had an understanding of exactly what my options were, the plan we choose, and what to expect during each stage (good or bad). Dr. Wood always listened to my questions and concerns and answered them as thoroughly as he could. Even on the day of surgery, he explained to my parents exactly what has been corrected in my shoulder, what my care needed to be in the days to come, and answered their questions just as thoroughly as he had mine. In my opinion, Dr. Wood and his nurse Kristy Poole made me feel as if their first priority was getting shoulder healed and I back to the active lifestyle I was accustomed to. I would highly recommend Dr. Mark Wood."
- "Excellent Surgeon...My son had to have shoulder surgery. Dr. Wood was great in explaining what needed to happen, the procedure and the expected outcome. He has seen several members of my family from shoulders to knees with great overall outcomes. Highly recommend him and his staff.."
- "I saw Dr. Wood for knee pain, and an MRI diagnosed a full ACL tear with multiple multi-plane meniscus tears (he even called me from his vacation to go over the results!). He was professional, thorough, took the time to answer my multitude of questions, and his work was excellent. My scarring is minimal, his bedside manner was excellent, and my function is returning right on schedule."
- "Dr. Wood was outstanding. From the time my daughter tore her ACL through her recovery, he was everything we could hope for and more. He was knowledgeable, informative, compassionate and attentive to detail. The surgery was a success and her recovery progressed without issue. She is now over one-year post-surgery and has no limitations or restrictions. I highly recommend Dr. Wood."
- "Dr. Wood came highly recommended for ACL surgery from two former teammates who have both had ACL replacement done in the past few years. It was a great referral because Dr. Wood has been excellent from the beginning until now at three weeks post-op. He has always patiently taken his time to thoroughly and realistically explain procedures, results and expectations for returning to competitive sports and everyday life after surgery. The whole process from office staff, physical therapy and the medical treatment has been excellent."
- "Dr. Wood has been treating my wife for bad knees and that is where I got to see him in action. His professionalism mixed with compassion and humor are a winning combination for anyone in need of medical treatment. Fast forward and I went to Dr. Wood with a torn meniscus which had been causing me a lot of discomfort. he looked for the problem with least invasive x-ray and moved on to an MRI which revealed the tear in the meniscus. When consulting he gave me all of the details I needed to make an informed decision. I asked him to surgically repair the tear and look for other damage. A couple days later I went in for surgery and the supporting staff was professional, kind and compassionate. Surgery lasted 30 minutes and after recovery from anesthesia, I was able to put some weight on my knee to get into the car. I iced my knee and took drugs and pain medications for 2 days, didn't really need them so I stopped and have been walking without any crutches since. I am at day 11 and will be going back to work this week. A miracle might a little overboard but walking so soon without pain is close. I highly recommend Dr. Wood."
- "Dr. Wood fixed my left shoulder back in 2019 and did an amazing job. It has been pain-free ever since. When my right shoulder started bothering me I didn't even consider calling anyone else. If anyone asks me for a knee or shoulder ortho recommendation, I immediately tell them to call Dr. Mark Wood."
- "The entire experience was as good as I have had for medical care. It was easy to get scheduled. The process of documenting and understanding the reason for my visit was conducted very efficiently and professionally. Overall, the staff was very professional and very caring. Dr Wood took the time to listen and communicated clearly the plan for further analysis and treatment. As a new resident of the area, I am comfortable that I ended up in exactly the right place with the right physician for my medical care."
- "Well run practice. On time. Professionalism from all employees. Dr. Wood was great at explaining what had happened and the several treatment options, utilizing x-rays and MRI. Highly recommend Dr. Wood and his practice. Excellent."
- "Dr Mark Wood is one of the most well rounded individuals I’ve ever met. His expertise and professionalism starts with the office visit and carries through the relationship and surgery if needed. He has performed ACL reconstructions on both knees and a complicated shoulder repair involving impingement with bone spurs which lacerated 3 rotor cuffs leaving my shoulder worthless. Major orthopedic surgery demands some effort on your part but if Dr. Wood feels he can help you, you should probably listen."

- "Doctor Wood is by far the best Doctor I have ever had. Do Surgery on my knees and now my shoulder."
- "Dr. Wood and his team are amazing. I had lost all faith in the medical field but he restored it. He really cares about his patients and has compassion which you don't find in the medical field any more and he is an excellent surgeon. I would highly recommend him to anyone."
- "I met Dr Wood in 2017 when I went to see him for a torn rotator cuff. My main concern were the pain opioids I’d have to take. He actually called me at home and spent extra time talking me off the cliff I was on and the surgery went very well! Now I have a partial tear in the other one but I know I’m in good hands and he has assured me I won’t need surgery if I dont want it. Many surfeons only want to do surgery and I appreciate being given a choice."
- "We are beyond thrilled with the exceptional care we’ve received. Dr. Wood and his team, including Manny and Dan M., have far exceeded our expectations. Their level of expertise is impressive, but it’s their compassionate bedside and office manner that truly sets them apart. During what could have been an incredibly stressful time, they’ve brought us comfort and hope—not only for our situation but for the future of the medical field. We are so grateful for this outstanding team!"
- "I saw Dr Wood for a post op visit s/p shoulder surgery. He has a very friendly and pleasant bedside manner. He did some post op X rays and reviewed the results with me and did a physical assessment to determine how I was progressing after a few weeks of PT. We discussed my treatment plan and follow up care. He was thorough and patient & answered all of my questions. I was reassured and comforted to hear that my goals were realistic-( back in the kayak by spring)! Everyone appreciates realistic goals and limit setting - really encourages patient compliance! Dr Wood really listened to me when we talked about some concerns I had and he took extra time to make sure I understood and felt comfortable moving forward and advancing my PT to the next level. Excellent provider!"
