New Volunteer Applicants interested in becoming a volunteer should not complete these steps unless they have been approved by a Volunteer Services Team Member.

Applicants have 30 days to complete the onboarding steps to become a volunteer.

checkmark  CRC Onboarding Steps

Volunteer Services has partnered with CriminalRecordCheck.com Inc. (CRC) to complete a portion of the onboarding requirements. You will receive an email invitation from “mycrc,” and the subject will be “WakeMed Volunteer Services: Request for Information" within 3 days of your interview. Please set up a username and password and start the process for your background check, references and e-sign the forms. You will complete the following requirements. If you have difficulties completing it, your invitation has expired or you have found inaccurate information in your background, please contact CRC at 877-272-0266.

  • Applicant Demographics - to start background check
  • Professional References - Please do not use family members as a reference
  • Occupational Health Form
  • Review Summary of Rights Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)
  • E-sign Applicant Release for Background Check – adults only
  • Review North Carolina Security Freeze
  • E-Sign Confidentiality Agreement
  • Requirement for Juniors to Participate – juniors only
checkmark  Occupational Health Steps
  • Once you complete this process, you will receive two identical emails from CRC for you to upload your vaccination & medical records. Your record will be sent to WakeMed’s Occupational Health Department.
    -    Required Vaccinations & Medical Records to be submitted to WakeMed Occupational Health
    • Flu / Influenza vaccination — (during flu season only)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
    • Varicella
    • Tdap/Tetanus
    • Tuberculosis (TB) Q Gold Blood Test Screening, or TB Skin Test or negative Chest X-Ray — Results must be within the last 12 months
  • Please allow 5 days after uploading your records for Occupational Health to review your records and send you an email. After 5 days, please contact Occupational Health at 919-350-7370. They will determine if you need to make a Medical Screening appointment at Cary Hospital, North Hospital or Raleigh Campus.  
  • All new volunteers must be cleared by Occupational Health before starting.

Additional Onboarding Steps for Specific Volunteer Assignments

Courtesy Cart Volunteer Applicants Only 

Applicants interested in volunteering as a Courtesy Cart Driver must complete the Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) Consent Form, have or have had an eye exam from their eye care provider within the past 12 months and have their provider complete the Vision Clearance Letter (VCL) and include documentation of the exam findings as well as complete the WakeMed Vehicle Operator Training course.

Hospitality Pet Volunteer Applicants Only

Applicants interested in volunteering with our pet program must submit the following to the appropriate hospital.

  • Behavioral Evaluation of Pet
  • Fecal Examination
  • Therapy Certificate
  • Proof of Personal Liability Insurance Covering Pet
  • Vaccinations for Distemper, Parvovirus, and Rabies

Music Volunteer Pre-Screen Video Performance

Use only if requested by Volunteer Services Staff.

Submit musical performance as part of pre-screening before approval to complete new volunteer onboarding steps to become a volunteer.
