Sukanto Biswas, MD, FACS

Dr. Biswas is a clinical associate professor at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC, and an attending complex general, oncologic and critical care surgeon at WakeMed. His clinical interests include hepato-pancreato-biliary, gastric and intestinal surgeries, involving both benign and malignant diseases. Additionally, he specializes in minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques. 

He earned his medical degree and master's degree in surgery from Maulana Azad Medical College - University of New Delhi in India and completed his residency in general surgery at the New York Medical College Program at Lincoln Medical & Mental Health Center and Saint Vincent's Hospital & Medical Center, both in New York City. He also completed a fellowship in surgical critical care at New York Medical College. Dr. Biswas is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, is a member of the Surgical Society of Oncology and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. 

Dr. Biswas provides caring, evidence-based care for his patients. He prioritizes listening to their concerns, fostering a collaborative approach to decision-making about their treatment options for best possible outcomes and quality of life.

When not seeing patients, Dr. Biswas enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, camping, taking photographs and being with his family.
