Sukanto Biswas, MD, FACS

Dr. Biswas is a clinical associate professor at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC, and an attending general, trauma and critical care surgeon at WakeMed. His clinical interests include hepato-pancreato-biliary and gastric surgeries, involving both benign and malignant diseases. He performs acute care surgeries and surgical oncology in intestinal malignancies in pancreatic, biliary and gastric care patients. Additionally, he specializes in minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques. 

He earned his medical degree and master's degree in surgery from Maulana Azad Medical College - University of New Delhi in India and completed his residency in general surgery at the New York Medical College Program at Lincoln Medical & Mental Health Center and Saint Vincent's Hospital & Medical Center, both in New York City. He also completed a fellowship in surgical critical care at New York Medical College. Dr. Biswas is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. 

Dr. Biswas provides caring, evidence-based care for his patients. He prioritizes listening to their concerns, fostering a collaborative approach to decision-making about their treatment options.

When not seeing patients, Dr. Biswas enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, camping, taking photographs and being with his family.
