Dr. Patricia Wellborn is a highly skilled orthopaedic hand surgeon who has undergone extensive fellowship training, specializing in a wide range of hand surgery procedures that encompass everything from the fingertips to the elbow. Her expertise includes treating fractures, tendon injuries, nerve damage, arthritis and various peripheral nerve conditions. Dr. Wellborn began her academic journey at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA, before moving to Charleston, SC, to attend the Medical University of South Carolina for her medical degree. She completed her residency at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC and then further honed her skills during a fellowship at the University of Colorado in Denver.
In her approach to patient care, Dr. Wellborn emphasizes open and honest communication, ensuring that each patient is treated as a unique individual with specific needs and aspirations. Her practice is firmly grounded in evidence-based medicine and promotes shared decision-making, allowing patients to be active participants in their treatment plans.
When she’s not caring for her patients, Dr. Wellborn loves to spend quality time with her family, exploring the great outdoors through hiking and skiing and indulging her passion for travel.
