Nathan Calloway, MD

Dr. Nathan Calloway is an ear, nose and throat doctor with clinical interests in pediatric otolaryngology, otology (ear disease), sinus disease, the thyroid and parotid, and cancers of the head and neck.

While at Boston University earning his medical degree, he engaged in research at Massachusetts General Hospital, served as president of his medical student government organization, and developed an interest in surgery. Specifically, he was attracted to the broad range of surgery that an otolaryngologist is able to perform, from treating children with hearing loss to adults with head and neck cancer.

While completing his residency at UNC Hospitals, he worked in the otology lab, performing original work on measuring hearing levels during cochlear implant surgery. For this work, he was awarded a research travel award by the American Otological Society and presented his research at the American Otological Society annual meeting.

Dr. Calloway grew up in Raleigh and is happy to be back and raising his family here. When not in the hospital, he and his wife and two sons enjoy spending time outside and cheering for the Tar Heels and the Red Sox.
