About Me

Dr. Jonathan Forbes is a board certified pulmonary and critical care medicine physician with clinical interests in critical care outcomes, quality improvement, lung cancer and severe asthma. Dr. Forbes received his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internal medicine internship and residency from Virginia Commonwealth University Health in Richmond and his fellowship training in pulmonary and critical care medicine from Wake Forest University Baptist Health. Dr. Forbes joins WakeMed from Fredericksburg, Virginia, where he worked in both pulmonary and critical care in private practice.

Dr. Forbes main goal is to provide his patients and their families with every ounce of information available so that they can make their own informed decisions. He strives to provide educated guidance and compassionate care. When not at work, Dr. Forbes enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He also enjoys watching college and professional football, trying new restaurants, going to concerts, bourbon tasting and playing golf.

My visit with Dr. J. Lowe was a great visit! He took his time explaining my test results and how we are gonna proceed from here! He speaks in normal language so that I can understand everything he is telling me. He is professional, kind, respectful and caring for me and my health problems and treatments!

I Everything was outstanding. I. was amazed at the time doctor jonathan spent with me. He explained what was going on and his plan to help me control my asthma. He did so many blood tests. Which I have an ant done before. I have never been to a pulmonologist before. I wish I would went a while ago I can't say enough about this doctor and his staff.. I feel I'm on the road to recovery. Dr. John and his nurse Jen, both were so friendly, considerate, concerned and professional! Dr. John took his time and sat and talked to me. He made me feel very comfortable telling him some of my past experiences and medical history! He sat down to talk to me at my level! He didn’t tower over me like he was so superior over me. Being a retired law enforcement officer that is one of the most important aspects of making someone comfortable talking to you. He thanked me for my service after I told him that I was a retired officer! He explained what he would like for me start taking for my breathing problems. He also explained what tests he would like for me to have and why! I never felt rushed or uncomfortable with Dr. John. Y’all need to have these two employees give talks to other employees on how to actually treat a patient. Especially if they are s new patient! WakeMed needs to make sure that employees like these are shown how appreciated they are to the Practice and they stay!

It was my first office visit to Dr. Forbes. There had been some communication before visit. I was a little anxious meeting him and also the results of CT scans. Short story I didn’t need to be anxious about either. I like him very much personally and professionally.
