Dr. Evan Plunkett is a fellowship-trained sports medicine physician, board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation with clinical interests in working with athletes of all skill levels, especially young, growing athletes. With a background in physical medicine and rehabilitation, Dr. Plunkett is also intrigued by adaptive sports athletics. Additionally, musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound guided procedures and orthobiologics are part of his practice.
Dr. Plunkett completed his undergraduate studies at Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. He went on to medical school at Wright State Boonshoft School of Medicine in Fairborn, OH. From there, he returned to Columbus to complete his residency at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He joined as a fellow in primary care sports medicine at University of Toledo in Toledo, OH and went on to be an assistant professor at the University of Michigan in the physical medicine and rehabilitation department. His published research is in osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and ultrasound-guided percutaneous tendon scraping.
Dr. Plunkett aims to understand his patients’ rehabilitative and athletic goals. Based on this information, he tailors care to help athletes attain those goals. Viewing the therapeutic relationship as a partnership, he speaks about clinically significant details in plain language and incorporates models and images to make pathology clear and ensure treatment plans are agreed upon.
Outside of work, Dr. Plunkett loves to stay active. He enjoys running, cycling and golfing. He is also a big sports fan, values time with my family, enjoys traveling and relishes adventures in the great outdoors.
