At room temperature, Elitek (Rasburicase) causes enzymatic degradation of the uric acid in blood/plasma/serum samples potentially resulting in spuriously low plasma uric acid assay readings.

Causes for Rejection
Specimen not collected in a pre-chilled tube. Specimen not delivered on ice.
Instructions
Alert Core Lab a minimum of thirty minutes prior to specimen collection.
Pre-chill a green gel tube for at least fifteen minutes. Place specimen on ice immediately after collection and deliver to Processing right away. Do not send to lab via pneumatic tube system. Processing will immediately receive and deliver to Core Lab.
