Minimum Collecting Volume
One full light blue top tube- (Special low volume collection tubes are available for Neonatal patients if blood volume collection is limited by clinical condition. Contact the laboratory to request a collection tube.)
Storage or Stability
Ambient - Specimen must be centrifuged and tested withing one hour of collection.
Refrigerate- Centrifuge specimen and aliquot plasma. Specimen must be tested within four hours of collection.
Stability may vary if additional studies are ordered on the same sample. The test with the shortest stability should be considered when evaluating storage/stability for testing.

Causes for Rejection
Clotted, wrong tube type, grossly hemolyzed, over or underfilled collection tube. Unspun specimens received >1 hour from collection. Spun specimen received >4 hours from collection. Spun specimen not refrigerated.
