Storage or Stability
Sample should be transported to the laboratory on ice as soon as possible after collection (maximum of 20 minutes). Plasma separated from the cells within 30 minutes of collection is stable for 3 hours if refrigerated.
Causes for Rejection
Incorrect sample type, Sample not received on ice, Unspun sample age greater than 20 minutes upon receipt in lab, separated plasma sample (refrigerated) age is greater than 3 hours, frozen sample, QNS, Microtainers are not accepted and will be rejected.
Instructions
Collection tube should be completely filled with blood then immediately placed on ice and transported to the lab (maximum of 20 minutes). Upon receipt in lab, sample is centrifuged and assayed immediately. If longer storage needed before test performed, separate plasma from cells and refrigerate. Do Not Freeze.
