About the WakeMed Ambulatory Care Fellowship

Started in October of 2021, the Ambulatory Care fellowship at WakeMed will offer a well encompassed experience for the APP fellow. By utilizing a select few of our primary care locations, urgent care locations, and the newly launched ambulatory care model called MyCare365, the APP fellow can expect to see a wide range of medical conditions and be afforded a multitude of learning experiences.

Ambulatory Care

The Ambulatory Care curriculum is designed to allow the APP fellow to show progression throughout the twelve-month fellowship. The fellow can expect to be given the opportunity to hone their skills in managing chronic illnesses to developing the ability to recognize and manage acute illnesses.

Rotations

The Ambulatory Care track is one year in length and the fellow can expect to rotate through a select few of our primary care locations, along with our multiple urgent care locations and our MyCare365 locations. The fellow will also have the ability to participate in a variety of electives during their year.

Progression

The fellow will be expected to show appropriate progression throughout their year by showing advancement in history and physical examination skills, managing of chronic illnesses, diagnosis and treatment of acute illnesses, ordering of appropriate laboratory tests and interpretation of those tests and development of differential diagnoses.

Didactic Opportunities

By working alongside one of our current team members the fellow can expect to receive excellent mentorship and didactic experiences during the fellowship. The fellow will also be able to participate in the various conferences and in-services throughout the year to further their knowledge base. They will also be involved in a quality improvement project throughout the year.
