Surgical Technologist Apprenticeship
Surgical Technology programs prepare students to assist in the care of the surgical patient in the operating room and to function as a vital member of the surgical team, with responsibilities that include ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are in the operating room, setting up the procedure using sterile technique, gowning and gloving themselves and others, draping the patient, performing instrument counts, handling surgical specimens, and actively anticipating and passing instruments to the surgeon.
What is an apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships combine paid on-the-job training with classroom instruction to prepare workers for highly skilled careers. Workers benefit from apprenticeships by receiving a skills-based education that prepares them for their career. Apprenticeship programs help employers recruit, build, and retain a highly skilled workforce.
