Tom DeVito, MS, PA-C

As a board certified physician assistant, Tom DeVito has always been interested in the field of cardiology. It allows him to approach patient care from many different angles, including the physical, psychological and medical aspects of recovery and wellness. DeVito specializes in adult cardiology, with expertise in general cardiology, stress testing, cardiac rehabilitation, sports medicine and cardiovascular disease prevention.

Born and raised in New York, DeVito moved to North Carolina in 1976 and shortly thereafter directed the first cardiac rehabilitation facility in the Triangle area. From there, he worked in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation at another area hospital before returning to graduate school to earn his degree in physician assistant studies. To date, DeVito has been with WakeMed Heart & Vascular Physicians for more than 15 years. He enjoys working under the WakeMed umbrella, put simply, because of the excellent healthcare professionals and patients he is able to work with and because of WakeMed’s dedication to excellence.

“We have a great staff – friendly and helpful and everyone has a positive attitude,” explained DeVito. “Meanwhile, the patients with whom we work are all such good people. It’s a great feeling to be able to help them, no matter where they are in the progression of their cardiac disease.”

Mr. DeVito has been married for close to 30 years and has two grown children, both graduates of East Carolina University. He and his wife live in Raleigh with their two dogs and three cats on a property that allows him to fulfill his love for gardening and landscaping. Also a musician who plays guitar, sings and writes songs with the local band BACKFENCE, DeVito is a fan of the North Carolina State University Athletic Department.
