About Me

Victoria Saunders is a physician assistant with a primary clinical interest in breast surgical oncology, particularly the opportunity to care for patients from the time of diagnosis through surgery, reconstruction, recovery and long-term follow-up. She is drawn to the unique combination of complex surgical care, multidisciplinary collaboration and meaningful patient relationships that this specialty offers. What resonates with her most is the opportunity to support patients through a life-changing diagnosis while helping them navigate the medical, emotional and personal challenges that accompany it. She values the partnership between breast surgery, plastic & reconstructive surgery, medical oncology and the broader healthcare team in providing comprehensive, individualized care. Through her surgical oncology and reconstruction fellowship, she is eager to continue developing her surgical knowledge, clinical judgment and technical skills while learning to anticipate patients' needs at every stage of their care. She is equally interested in the human side of medicine: building trust, communicating with empathy and helping patients feel confident and supported in their treatment decisions. Ultimately, she hopes to build a career in breast surgical oncology that allows her to combine clinical excellence with the compassion, adaptability and genuine patient connection that first drew her to medicine.

Saunders patient care philosophy is rooted in empathy, intentionality and the belief that every patient deserves to feel seen, heard and cared for as a whole person, especially during their most vulnerable moments. A diagnosis, particularly cancer, can change someone's life in an instant, and she believes our responsibility as healthcare providers extends beyond treating a disease. It means recognizing the person behind the diagnosis, acknowledging their fears and uncertainties and helping them feel supported throughout their journey. She strives to approach every patient with compassion, humility and an open mind, adapting her communication and care to meet each individual's unique needs. Sometimes, providing the best care means offering reassurance or guidance; other times, it means listening without rushing, sitting with someone in a difficult moment or making sure they know they are not navigating their experience alone. Above all, she believes patients should remain at the center of every decision. Her goal is to combine evidence-based medicine with genuine human connection, advocating for my patients, anticipating their needs and going the extra mile whenever she can. She hopes all patient she encounters feels she has not only cared for their health but also cared about them as a person.

Outside of work, Saunders loves finding little ways to slow down, explore and appreciate the world around her. She enjoys getting lost in a good book, discovering new coffee shops and spending time outdoors. Camping and hiking are two of her favorite ways to reconnect with nature and recharge. She is always excited to explore new places, try something different and find beauty in simple pleasures!
