About Me

Dr. Veshana Ramiah is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist who specializes in treating patients with gastrointestinal and genitourinary cancers as well as hematological malignancies such as lymphoma and myeloma.

Having worked and trained in three continents, Dr. Ramiah finds being an oncologist is a real synergy between the art of healing and cutting-edge technology. She strives to know her patients on a personal level, working together as a team throughout their cancer journey, while offering them novel and targeted therapies with more personalized options for treatment.

Dr. Ramiah believes working in oncology to be an absolute privilege. Her patients inspire her with their resilience and grace, and she is humbled to work alongside her Cancer Care colleagues and allied multidisciplinary teams to navigate the challenging world of medical oncology and hematology.

Dr. Ramiah received her medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand Medical School in Johannesburg, South Africa and worked at the Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital in the United Kingdom completing her residency and chief residency in internal medicine at Henry Ford Hospital. She then completed her fellowship training in hematology/oncology at Duke University Medical Center.

Dr. Ramiah speaks some Xhosa and Zulu and is the co-founder of StrongHer TogetHer – a local non-profit helping girls empower themselves and each other.
