About Me
Dr. Steven Papas is a board-certified pediatric neurologist with clinical interests in neuroimmunology and palliative care. Dr. Papas started his undergraduate studies at Mississippi College in Clinton, MS, before advancing to medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Fondren North, MS. He then moved to Chapel Hill, NC, to complete his residency in child neurology at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Hospitals. Following this, he pursued a fellowship in neuroimmunology through the same hospital system, further honing his expertise in the field.
Dr. Papas holds a profound belief that every child is created in the image of God, which instills in him a sense of inherent dignity and potential in each young patient. As a Christian and a pediatric neurologist, he views his medical practice as a blend of scientific dedication and compassionate ministry, inspired by Jesus' example of caring for the marginalized and vulnerable. This philosophy shapes his approach to treating every child and family that comes under his care.
As a father of three, Dr. Papas empathizes with the hopes and concerns parents have for their children’s health. His guiding principle in decision-making is simple: he asks himself how he would want his own child to be treated. He is committed to providing each patient with the same level of expertise, compassion and advocacy he would desire for his own family.
Beyond addressing neurological conditions, Dr. Papas prioritizes listening, honest communication and collaboration with families, advocating for children who need support. By merging evidence-based care with heartfelt compassion, he aims to ensure that every family feels heard, respected and cared for with excellence and humility, reflecting Christ-like love.
In his personal life, Dr. Papas enjoys quality time with his family, cooking, playing golf and fly fishing.
