Steven Hesse, MD, MPH

Dr. Steven Hesse is an obstetrician-gynecologist (OB-GYN) with clinical interests in high-risk obstetrics, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, abnormal uterine bleeding as well as cervical cancer screening and prevention. He began his postsecondary education at University of Wisconsin Madison in Madison, WI. He remained there to complete medical school at University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He then completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Minnesota, serving as chief resident.

Dr. Hesse believes that providing patient care is a privilege and ought to be inclusive, equitable and supportive. His approach centers on meeting people where they are and listening to the questions, concerns and fears that are specific to each individual patient. After that, he discusses management options, detailing the risks and benefits associated with each choice. Collectively, through shared decision making, he works with patients to determine the most effective path for them.

When not seeing patients, Dr. Hesse enjoys spending time with his wife traveling, visiting restaurants and exploring all that North Carolina has to offer. Together, they also enjoy their wonderful Great Dane and two cats.
