About Me
Sofia Ghani is a board-certified, fellowship-trained oncologist with clinical interests in a broad spectrum of oncologic malignancies. Her specialties include breast cancer, genitourinary cancers, gastroenterology (GI) cancers as well as melanoma and benign hematology. Prior to joining WakeMed, Dr. Ghani served as faculty and Associate Program Director of the Hematology/Oncology fellowship at Saint Louis University in Saint Louis, MO. She also served as faculty in the Stephenson Cancer Center at the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, OK. She is credited with numerous lectures, courses, research investigations and published articles regarding the development, progression and treatment of breast cancer.
Dr. Ghani finds caring for her patients to be incredibly rewarding. Her personal approach to patient care is to treat patients as if they are family. Demonstrating great compassion and understanding, she walks with patients through their cancer journey, recognizing the challenges of what they are enduring.
When not at work, Dr. Ghani enjoys spending time with family, reading and travelling.
