Sherry Wang, MD

Dr. Sherry Wang is a resident physician at WakeMed who is passionate about making the community a better place while promoting health and disease prevention education.

Dr. Wang’s clinical interests include understanding and educating patients about the mechanisms behind and prevention of acute kidney injury and congestive heart failure as well as socioeconomic influence on renal and cardiovascular health. She earned her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada and is currently completing her internal medicine residency at WakeMed. Before medical school, Dr. Wang completed her bachelor’s degree in physiology and psychology at University of Colorado and master’s degree in physiology from North Carolina State University.

Dr. Wang believes the best strategy for promoting the health of her patients is to provide education and resources about the disease processes that affect them, so that they may be advocates for their own health. She strives to utilize evidence-based medicine in concert with an individual’s needs to develop a comprehensive treatment strategy unique to each patient. She works to treat each patient with the respect and dignity that she would want to provide to those closest to her. Outside of work, Dr. Wang enjoys trying new cuisines, baking, hiking with her dog and traveling the world.
