S. Oomer Aziem, DO

Dr. Oomer Aziem is a board-certified cardiovascular physician with clinical interests in non-invasive imaging, including nuclear medicine and transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE), and preventative cardiovascular medicine. Dr. Aziem earned his medical degree from the Osteopathic School of Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ-SOM) in Stratford, New Jersey. Dr. Aziem is fellowship trained from Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills, New Jersey, and completed his residency at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. Dr. Aziem brings over a decade of experience to WakeMed with diverse experience in cardiovascular medicine.

Dr. Aziem believes in treating the whole patient, including their bio-psycho-social needs, as it pertains to their disease and diagnosis. He feels that treating the whole patient brings about better outcomes and is a necessary component for the patient and physician relationship. Dr. Aziem also does his best to make sure the patient understands the disease process or essential components of their specific condition. He wants to make sure the patient is informed so together they can come up with the best treatment plan. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children, two boys and one girl. Dr. Aziem also enjoys playing sports, traveling, and experiencing different cultures, customs, and cuisines.
