About Me

Dr. Paul Oh is a board-certified gastroenterologist with clinical interests in all aspects of general gastroenterology and hepatology. Dr. Oh is proficient in upper endoscopy, including ablative treatment for Barrett's, colonoscopy, and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for biliary and pancreatic disorders. Dr. Oh received his medical degree from The Pennsylvania State University and completed his internal medicine internship and residency at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Oh is fellowship-trained in gastroenterology from The Pennsylvania State University, The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He brings over two decades of patient care experience to the WakeMed team.

Dr. Oh believes in providing optimal patient care by taking the time to listen carefully to patients' health questions and issues before offering necessary treatments. When not at work, Dr. Oh enjoys walking local trails and greenways with his wife and their two dogs, attending cultural events, reading, and spending time with his two adult sons.

My nurse Brittany was very kind and great bedside manner My nurse who came in to take me for my procedure was very bubbly and comforting . The nurse anesthesia And the anesthesiologist was informative and kind. Very nice and kind place to go for procedures.

The attention to my issue - which is bloating in my stomach area - was excellent. It was explained to me that I should get a Cologuard test and at my age having a colonoscopy was not recommended unless results of Cologuard would indicate that one was necessary. My issues could be be related to other issues and not necessarily anything related to intestinal issues. I also have several other issues, to include heart problems.

I had a rather serious, urgent problem and the office took that into consideration and was able to make an appointment for me respecting the need to see him soon. And indeed, during the appointment Dr. Oh acknowledged that it was great he was able to examine me and based on seeing me he also chose to fast track getting me in for follow-up procedures (colonoscopy/ biopsy, etc.). I am not more special than anyone else and am not writing this because I was pleased to get special treatment. Rather because I felt both the person helping me schedule and appointment and Dr. Oh really listened and seemed to just care about patient well- being re: appropriately meeting my need with timely help. Give my health issues I have had to see so many doctors over the years. And my experience at each part of my recent visit stands out to me as especially excellent relative to working with other clinics and doctors. I feel very thankful.

Dr. Oh was able to usefully interpret an ELASTOGRAPHY exam. Nobody else at WakeMed knew enough to do this. His expertise and caring demeanor were most reassuring. Dr. Oh’s advice was very helpful.
