Pallavi Kopparthy, MD

Dr. Pallavi Kopparthy is a hematology-oncology physician at WakeMed and provides care for patients with benign/malignant hematologic disorders and solid tumors. Her special interests include treating patients with breast cancer.

Dr. Kopparthy received her medical degree from Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore, Karnataka, India. She completed her internal medicine internship and residency training at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, where she also served as chief resident. Dr. Kopparthy is fellowship-trained in hematology and medical oncology from the University of Florida.

Her treatment philosophy is focused on being patient-centric with shared-decision making. She believes that caring for cancer patients is immensely gratifying and that witnessing the strength and resilience of patients and their families amid devastation of a malignancy is a privilege. She was also exposed to research and administration of many of the advanced therapies available to cancer patients. She is passionate about providing well rounded care for her breast cancer patients. She is deeply committed to supporting breast cancer survivors, knowing that life after treatment can bring its own set of challenges. From managing long-term side effects to addressing emotional and lifestyle concerns, she strives to provide compassionate, personalized care that helps each patient feel empowered and supported.

Outside of work, Dr. Kopparthy enjoys spending time with family, hiking and traveling.
