About Me

Dr. Nirmala Narasimha is a board-certified family medicine physician with clinical interests in chronic medical problems, health maintenance, preventive care, geriatric health, obesity management and women's health. She received her medical degree from J.S.S. Medical College in Mysore, India, and completed her family medicine residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Narasimha joins WakeMed most recently from the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota where she worked as a family medicine physician.

Dr. Narasimha believes in a collaborative approach where the best evidence-based medicine is coupled with the patients' values and preferences in improving their health. She strives to educate, motivate and empower her patients to take ownership of their health with her assistance. In her free time, Dr. Narasimha enjoys cooking, painting, and traveling with her spouse and three children.
