Michael Hankewycz, MD

Dr. Michael G. Hankewycz is a hospitalist with clinical interests that include quality improvement, patient safety, medical education and clinical documentation integrity/improvement (CDI). He serves as the Raleigh Adult Hospitalist medical director.

Dr. Hankewycz earned his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, WV, and he subsequently completed a residency program in internal medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Health, in Winston-Salem, NC. He is board certified in internal medicine. He was a hospitalist at Wake Forest Baptist Health and thereafter began working at WakeMed as a hospitalist.

Dr. Hankewycz grew up in eastern Wake County and considers the Triangle his home. He spent time volunteering at WakeMed prior to medical school. In his free time, Dr. Hankewycz enjoys spending time with his wife and two children along with running, playing soccer, hiking and snowboarding. He and his family enjoy traveling and visiting the beaches of the Carolinas in the summer along with the NC mountains in the fall.
