About Me
A native of Buffalo, N.Y., physician assistant Michael Wiegert is skilled in the evaluation and treatment of coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, congestive heart failure and valvular heart disease.
After spending 15 years working as a physician assistant in Atlanta, including two years in cardiac surgery at Emory University Hospital and almost 13 years in cardiology at Piedmont Health Institute, Wiegert is thrilled to be part of the WakeMed Heart & Vascular team. Known as a compassionate provider who values clear and effective communication with his patients and colleagues, Wiegert brings to the WakeMed cardiology team diverse experience in cardiac care as well as excellent medical knowledge and judgment.
Outside of medicine, Michael enjoys spending time with his family and staying fit through outdoor activities such as running, biking, hiking and camping.
