Melissa Atwell, PA-C

Melissa Atwell is a board-certified advanced practice provider specializing in plastic surgery , with a particular focus on oncologic breast reconstruction. She assists our surgeons with providing the latest surgical techniques for various reconstruction needs and also offers three-dimensional micropigmentation of the nipple and areolar complex for patients’ post-breast cancer treatment. Her expertise also extends to breast reductions and all forms of soft tissue reconstruction, reflecting her commitment to enhancing patient outcomes and experiences. She earned her bachelor’s degree while attending University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Urbana, IL. She then completed a master’s degree at University of Florida in Gainesville, FL.

Coming from a surgical oncology background, Atwell’s main goal in her patient encounters is to provide a warm, trusting, collaborative environment, where they feel safe and empowered in their care. She believes patients do best when providers take the time to educate and set comprehensive expectations to support them throughout the timeline of their treatment plan.

Outside of work, Atwell enjoys gardening, caring for her 30+ houseplants and being outside. She also loves reading, traveling, going on dinner dates with her husband and staying active with their two miniature Australian Shepherds.
