Max Perlmutt, MD

Dr. Max Perlmutt is a hospitalist with clinical interests including general internal medicine, preventive health and the management of chronic conditions, such as heart failure and diabetes. He also has a strong interest in medical education and mentoring trainees. Dr. Perlmutt earned his bachelor’s degree while attending University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC and remained there for his post-baccalaureate studies. He completed medical school at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Brooklyn, NY. He has now returned to North Carolina where he finished his residency here at WakeMed.

Dr. Perlmutt’s patient care philosophy is rooted in building trusting relationships, listening attentively to each individual’s concerns and providing evidence-based care that aligns with his patients’ personal goals and values. He strives to deliver comprehensive and compassionate care that addresses both immediate and long-term health needs.

Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Perlmutt enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, exploring the outdoors, playing tennis, and playing his saxophone.
