Loretta Odro, NP

Loretta Odro is a board-certified nurse practitioner who started her healthcareer as a perioperative and perianesthesia nurse after completing her bachelor’s degree at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, because of her interest in treatments that require the perianesthesia stages. She practiced as a nurse in these fields for over ten years before obtaining her advanced practice degree at South College in Knoxville, TN, and stumbling into urology as an advanced practitioner. It has been pleasantly enthralling, and she is eager to learn and do more, especially on the inpatient side. Her clinical interests are in all aspects of general urology and urologic oncology, including prostate cancer, renal and transitional cell carcinoma and bladder cancer. She is committed to continued learning and refinement in all skills necessary to effectively care for patients and manage their conditions.

Since Odro was born and raised in Ghana where supporting one another in community was paramount and raising and disciplining children was every adult’s responsibility irrespective of blood relation, she lived the saying “It takes a village to raise a child.” This upbringing informs her personal patient care philosophy of viewing each patient as family and an important member of the community who deserves the best possible care. She treats all patients equally regardless of literacy level, socioeconomic status or other barriers to healthcare access.

Outside of work, Odro enjoys coloring, cooking and hosting events or gatherings. She is mostly an introvert but she takes pride in hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners to bring people together.
