About Me

Dr. Joshua Vega is a board-certified non-invasive cardiologist who specializes in the management of coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, cardiac arrhythmia, congestive heart failure and the medical management of vascular disease. Dr. Vega is bilingual (English and Spanish) and has a clinical interest in health disparities. Dr. Vega earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York, and completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Rochester/Strong Memorial Hospital. Dr. Vega completed a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease, internal medicine, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and is a registered physician in vascular interpretation. Dr. Vega also participates in local outreach and has led a clinical innovation project in developing a comprehensive cardiovascular clinic for native Spanish speakers in the local Latino community. He has also participated in medical mission trips in Central America.

Dr. Vega believes that being a doctor is a specialty that allows him to connect with people and to help them during their greatest time of need. He feels that every patient is unique and has their own story. In order to help his patients in the best way possible, Dr. Vega likes to approach each patient utilizing a biopsychosocial model, which means considering the intricate, variable interactions of biological, psychological and social factors that contribute to a patient's illness presentation and outcome. Dr. Vega strives to treat each patient as if they were a part of his family. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as playing and listening to music of many genres.
