Joseph Mauzy, NP

Joseph Mauzy is a board-certified nurse practitioner with a strong background in applied sciences and chemistry with a keen interest in general cardiology. He also enjoys emergency department and hospitalist care, finding them both challenging and rewarding. Mauzy began his postsecondary education at University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and geology. Years later, he returned to school and earned an associate degree from Wake Technical Community College, majoring in nursing. He then was admitted to the adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner master’s program at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC. He then completed a post-master’s certificate with rotations in emergency department work and infectious diseases through University of Tulsa in Tulsa, OK.

Mauzy considers patients and their families to be the most important members of the care team. He believes it is his role to provide individualized education and expertise that allows them to achieve their personal goals for their health care.

When not seeing patients, Mauzy enjoys traveling with his lovely wife and relaxing at home with his family. He plans to return to his hobbies playing guitar and Brazilian jui jitsu.
