Jonathan Laird, MD

Jonathan (Jon) Laird is a board-certified hospitalist with clinical interests in heart failure, point-of-care ultrasound as an extension of the physical exam (especially for evaluation of volume status), end-of-life care, alcohol withdrawal and sepsis. He earned a bachelor's and master’s degree while attending North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. He then completed medical school at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC.

Dr. Laird’s patient care is centered on clear communication, thoughtful clinical decision-making and dignity and respect for all patients. As a hospitalist, he aims to help patients and their families understand what is happening medically while guiding them through complex hospital stays with transparency and compassion. He appreciates this quote by William Osler that “the practice of medicine is an art, not a trade; a calling, not a business; a calling in which your heart will be exercised equally with your head,” since it reflects how he approaches patient care.

Outside of work, Dr. Laird enjoys gardening, growing vegetables and flowers, beekeeping, cycling and spending time outdoors.
