About Me
Ireny Sharkawy is a board-certified physician assistant with clinical interests in internal medicine and hospital medicine, with a strong commitment to providing comprehensive, patient-centered acute care to diverse patient populations. Sharkawy earned a dual bachelor’s degree at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC, majoring in chemistry and biology and minoring in chemical physics and psychology. She then earned her master’s degree from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC.
Sharkawy’s patient care philosophy is focused on providing compassionate, evidence-based care that treats each patient as a whole person. She prioritizes preventive medicine and emphasizes attentive listening, clear communication and patient education. Her goal is to empower patients to feel supported, informed and actively engaged in their health.
Outside of her professional life, Sharkawy enjoys spending time with family and friends, serving at her church, experimenting with new recipes through cooking and baking and staying active.
