About Me

Dr. Lockemer is a pediatric endocrinologist and current medical director of all pediatric subspecialties at WakeMed. She fell in love with endocrinology during college and has remained passionate about this field ever since. She enjoys all aspects of pediatric endocrinology, although she particularly enjoys the long-lasting relationships she develops with her diabetes patients and their families.

Dr. Lockemer has been involved in clinical research for Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes and growth hormone therapy. She has previously served on the Board of Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) and remains active with the organization. Additionally, she is participating in the US Coalition for Early T1D Screening to promote universal screening for Type 1 Diabetes. In addition to her clinical role, Dr. Lockemer serves as associate chief medical information officer, focusing these efforts on provider efficiency and well-being.

In her spare time, she enjoys traveling the world, running and spending time outdoors — especially with her dog.
