About Me
Dr. Gary Salasidis is a certified, fellowship-trained cardiovascular thoracic surgeon with around three decades experience performing more than 6,000 open surgical cases. His clinical interests include arterial revascularization; beating heart off-pump surgery, including no-touch arterial off-pump bypass; complex valve surgeries (repair and replacement of aortic, mitral, tricuspid and pulmonary valves); aortic root, ascending and arch surgery; emergent surgery, including dissections, acute ventriculo-septal defects, free wall perforations and papillary muscle ruptures; arrhythmia surgery (MAZE) and left atrial appendage closure; and transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). Dr. Salasidis completed medical school, residency and fellowship training in Canada. He completed two residencies in cardiothoracic surgery and general surgery. His fellowship training is in complex adult cardiac surgery.
Dr. Salasidis strives to provide an environment where patients feel comfortable and confident in the care they receive. He makes it a priority to explain patient conditions and any upcoming surgeries in clear language, ensuring all questions are answered so they can move forward without doubts or uncertainty.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Salasidis enjoys traveling and spending time with family. His hobbies include woodworking, home renovation, building computers, photography and being an audiophile. Additionally, he is heavily involved in the equestrian sport of eventing through his children's activities.
