About Me

Dr. Deepti Sharma is board-certified in family medicine. She is also board certified in obesity and lifestyle medicine with over a decade of clinical experience. Dr. Sharma’s clinical interests include weight management, prevention and cure of disease using evidence-based lifestyle changes centered on nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and mental health. Dr. Sharma received her medical degree from Government Medical College, Amritsar, and completed her family medicine residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan. While practicing in Eastern North Carolina, she saw the burden of chronic diseases, health care disparities and the role of preventive medicine. As she delved more into lifestyle aspects of disease, Dr. Sharma completed her plant-based nutrition certificate from T. Colin Campbell’s Center for Nutrition Studies. To further her expertise in treatment of chronic diseases, she became certified in obesity medicine and lifestyle medicine.

Dr. Sharma is passionate about treating the root cause of disease and exploring the connection of our daily habits with how we feel. Through a personalized approach, her philosophy is to partner with her patients to connect them to their best possible health and the life they want to live. Outside of work, Dr. Sharma enjoys reading, walking and yoga.

Dr Sharma was so accommodating to change my visit from in person to video due to my difficulty getting to clinic due to complicating medical condition. She was incredibly patient when I had some technical difficulties as well. I really value her support and collaborative approach.

Dr. Sharma is AMAZING!!! She is so supportive and I really feel like she cares about what I have to say. Definitely the best Dr I have ever had. You can tell she really cares about her patients and wants to see them succeed in staying healthy.

Dr. Sharma spent almost an hour with me listening to my concerns, reviewing my blood work and explaining options. She was thorough and really cared about me as an individual and my mental health. 10/10 would recommend.

I can not remember everyones name and I apologize. I did e check in and was greeted at the front desk. I waited in the lobby for about 15 minutes. The MA that came to weigh me in and talk did an amazing job. She was very friendly and listed to my concerns. The doctor was great as well. She explained my weigh loss options and I have a lot to think about. I am not sure is a 900 calorie diet is going to work for me, but I am trying to stay alert on what I am eating. Losing weight is a huge obstacle for me with lots of daily stress and family issues going on. I look forward to working with her team as I move on to my weight loss journey.

It was a very difficult appt for me coming in after some weight gain. Becky the nurse and Dr Sharma were both incredibly supportive and genuinely caring. It made all the difference in the world.

She didn’t berate me or make me feel badly for my current health predicament but was reassuring and made me feel like she’d be going through this with me until I meet my personal goals. Just the fact that she took time to get to know me , my eating habits, as well as what medication I have taken in the past. The labs really helped because nobody really checked other labs like she did and I appreciate that because I found out that my vitamin d was low again.
