Darrin Hursey, MD

Darrin Hursey, MD is a pulmonary and critical care medicine physician with WakeMed Physician Practices. In addition to working in the intensive care units and caring for inpatients, Dr. Hursey also sees patient in private practice at WakeMed Physician Practices – Pulmonology. His clinical interests include asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, and telemedicine.

Dr. Hursey earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. He completed a residency program in internal medicine at the University of Michigan followed by a fellowship program in pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine at UNC Hospitals Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.

He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, and critical care medicine. He helped establish the eICU service at WakeMed, which helps monitor critically-ill patients at multiple WakeMed sites, and is a member of the American Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians. In his free time, Dr. Hursey enjoys reading, playing tennis, computer gaming with my family, and spoiling his young daughter.
