Christiana Bernal, MD

Dr. Christiana Bernal is a Pediatric Gastroenterologist who sees patients with general gastrointestinal complaints or disorders.

She earned her undergraduate degree from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA. She completed two years of research at Emory University before earning her doctorate in medicine at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Bernal then completed her residency in pediatrics, followed by fellowships in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, and in Clinical Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

During her training Dr. Bernal completed research on the genetic effects on proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy. She was awarded the National Institutes of Health Training grant to support her research endeavors. She also devoted time to teaching - presenting numerous talks at Vanderbilt University - and has published peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and abstracts related to gastroenterology.

On a personal level, Dr. Bernal is a busy wife and mother of three. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and photography.
