Ayanna Garland, MD

Dr. Ayanna Garland is a hospitalist who focuses on various clinical issues, including peripartum hypertension, postpartum sexual dysfunction, urinary incontinence and pelvic prolapse following pregnancy and childbirth. She also has a keen interest in addressing racial and health disparities related to pregnancy complications and outcomes. Dr. Garland earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, College Park in College Park, MD, before completing her medical education at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA. She then attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC, for her obstetrics and gynecology residency.

Dr. Garland’s personal philosophy when approaching patient care is making patients feel comfortable through a warm and approachable demeanor. She believes creating a safe space allows patients to open up about their true concerns and desires. Her goal is not only to help patients meet their goals when leaving the encounter but also to provide her clinical expertise to achieve a collaborative treatment outcome. She takes pride in making patients feel heard and respected at each visit.

Outside of work, Dr. Garland’s hobbies include cooking and hosting events. She enjoys trying new recipes and adding her own twist to them. She also loves dancing, going to the movies, and participating in OrangeTheory.
