Amrita Parikh-Desai, MD

Dr. Amrita Parikh-Desai is a board-certified internal medicine physician with extensive experience in preventive medicine, women's health, and management of various acute and chronic complex medical conditions including diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, asthma, COPD, thyroid disorders and osteoporosis. She strongly believes in providing compassionate care to all her patients and places a strong emphasis on patient education and helping her patients achieve their goals towards a healthier life.

Dr. Parikh-Desai earned her medical degree from Government Medical College in Nagpur, India, and completed her internal medicine residency at Queens Hospital Center of Jamaica in New York, which is affiliated with the Long Island Jewish Medical Center and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Parikh-Desai has been in private practice since 1994, when she moved to North Carolina. A member of the American College of Physicians®, North Carolina Medical Society, she has worked in private practice, as well as inpatient hospital care. For two years, Dr. Parikh-Desai served as the sole provider at Pinnacle Internal Medicine in Raleigh, after which she joined The Cary Internal Medicine & Diabetes Center in 2006, prior to joining WakeMed Primary Care in 2013.

In her spare time, Dr. Parikh-Desai enjoys spending time with her family, painting, reading, music, yoga, traveling and volunteering at community health fairs.
