Alexander Nguyen, DO

Dr. Alexander Nguyen is a pediatrician with a clinical interest in comprehensive general pediatric medicine, who is committed to fostering collaborative partnerships with children and their families through compassionate, family-centered care. He especially enjoys working with families to support children and adolescents navigating anxiety, depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), behavioral concerns and autism. He completed his undergraduate education at The University of Texas at Austin in Austin, TX. He then finished medical school at University of North Texas Health Science Center -Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth, TX. While in medical school, he served as the class president of his class and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He then relocated to Winston-Salem, NC, for pediatric residency at Wake Forest University. During his time at Wake Forest, he received the House Officer Pediatric Teaching Award for his dedication to medical education. In addition, he received the Marcia Wofford Humanism Award, which recognizes a resident physician who shows great compassion, empathy and respect for patients.

Dr. Nguyen believes that exceptional pediatric medical care begins with building meaningful relationships. Therefore, he prioritizes getting to know his patients and their families first, not just their diagnoses, so he can understand their goals, values and unique circumstances. By taking a holistic, patient-centered approach, he strives to foster a collaborative environment where patients and their families feel heard, respected and empowered to participate in their care. He finds it both an honor and a privilege to serve as a pediatrician and to be entrusted with caring for children during some of the most important moments in their lives, while partnering with their families every step of the way.

Outside of work, Dr. Nguyen enjoys spending time with his family and staying active. He loves spending time outdoors and exploring national parks when he gets the chance. In his day-to-day, when he is not weightlifting, you can often find him in a hot yoga class with his partner, Carolyn. He also enjoys playing tabletop board games. During football season, you'll find him cheering on the Texas Longhorns — Hook'em!
