About Me
Dr. Abdul Saied Calvino is a dual board‑certified, fellowship‑trained surgical oncologist specializing in gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, pancreatic and soft‑tissue tumors. He is committed to delivering expert, evidence‑based surgical care with a focus on compassion, clarity and partnership.
Dr. Calvino has a strong interest in developing multidisciplinary cancer care pathways and advancing health equity. He has led initiatives aimed at improving cancer screening and early detection in underserved communities. During his time at the Roger Williams Cancer Center, he helped launch a culturally tailored cancer screening and navigation program that provided life‑saving services to thousands of patients. This work has been recognized with several awards, including the John J. Cunningham Award, the Rhode Island Department of Health Director’s Award, the American Cancer Society’s Adams Lane Award and the CDC’s Carol Friedman Award.
Dr. Calvino’s care philosophy centers on treating each patient as a whole person. He prioritizes listening, clear communication and shared decision‑making to ensure patients and families understand their options and feel supported throughout their care journey.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Calvino enjoys spending time with family, traveling, staying active and playing the alto saxophone.
