Cara Cameron, CNM

With more than 10 years of advanced practice nursing experience,  Cara Cameron has worked in both the hospital and private OB/GYN practice setting. Born and raised in upstate New York, Cameron is thankful for the many nurses throughout her training who allowed her to shadow them, especially those on the labor and delivery floor. Cameron chose labor and delivery as her area of specialty because she felt the birth process was “absolutely amazing,” and she had a desire to advocate for women through the field of medicine.

As a midwife, Cameron supports her patients in whatever they need and prefer while giving birth. She believes that a woman should have the birth experience she desires to have as long as it is safe for both her and her baby. In addition to labor and delivery, Cameron has clinical interests in well-woman care, contraception, post-partum depression, high-risk pregnancy, and the gynecological needs of teenagers, including teenage pregnancy. She has also served as a nursing student preceptor for the East Carolina University College of Nursing and Frontier Nursing University.

In her spare time, Cameron enjoys spending time with her son and is a marathon runner. In fact, over the span of three years, she completed eight marathons! Cameron also considers herself an explorer – she enjoys traveling for the thrill of seeing and experiencing new places and cultures.
